Robotics Platform

Welcome to the European Robotics Platform !

A consolidated European strategy in robotics is a requisite for preparing a new generation of robots that will closely collaborate with workers and move out of the factory to conquer a new wave of novel service, security and space application markets.

As industrial, service and security/space robotics increasingly share the same research challenges and agendas, such an initiative would aim to maintain Europe's leadership in industrial robotics and expand it into the burgeoning service and security markets. It would also aim to ensure increased public and personal security levels as well as new levels of quality of life by providing technologies required to enable society to address challenges in terms of ageing and well-being.

EUROP SRA (from May 2006) is available in the Documents section!

Calvin Klein

Does Calvin Klein have webbed feet?

Posted by Vivian McInerny

Categories: Calvin Klein, contest

This contest smells . . . nice.

Calvin Klein Fragrances teamed up with GQ Magazine to search for a manly MAN. The new fragrance from Calvin is called MAN. So they're looking for five real life men who epitomize the image which they says is sexy, stylish, sophisticated, socially aware and smart.

It's not enough just to be cute.

So, how to enter your studliness? Log onto GQ to fill out a form and submit a photo. Or you can find a list of stores hosting searches with a pro-photographer taking the pics.

Judges from GQ and Calvin Klein will select five finalists who will be flown to New York for a photo shoot that will run in the magazine's "Year of the Man" issue in a 2008.

You have until November 30 to get your abs and social awareness up to snuff. We're sure there's a webfoot out there somewhere who could take on Garret Neff.

If so, how do we meet him?

Garret Neff is the MAN. He is the face -- and bod -- of Calvin Klein MAN fragrance.

here's his opening rap:

FZ: "Cheepnis." Let me tell you something, do you like monster movies? Anybody? I LOVE monster movies, I simply adore monster movies, and the cheaper they are, the better they are. And cheepnis in the case of a monster movie has nothing to do with the budget of the film, although it helps, but true cheepnis is exemplified by visible nylon strings attached to the jaw of a giant spider . . . I'll tell you, a good one that I saw one time, I think the name of the film was "IT CONQUERED THE WORLD," and the . . . Did you ever see that one? The monster looks sort of like an inverted ice-cream cone with teeth around the bottom. It looks like a (phew!), like a teepee or . . . sort of a rounded off pup-tent affair

Shopping Spree - Part 7

We haven't visited the golden age of shopping for a while, so why not take a waltz down the aisles once again. This time we are focusing on the Swedish department store chain Domus (house in latin). It was owned by the Consumer Corporation (KF) who in their glory days had over 200 stores throughout the country. Sadly, business was slowly beginning to come to a halt in the 1980s and many of the bigger stores were redeveloped to mini malls or sold. Personally I think that the Domus stores still are the coolest stores ever to exist and Sweden and I miss them in a silly - but kitschy way.

For those who are interested in learning more about Domus, there is a great documentary by Swedish filmmaker Anders Wahlgren available.

Back to the present

Alright so it has been a while - been busy with work and what not. Sadly, life is not only about glamorous parties, international flights, premieres and posh penthouse apartments. Fortunately the past is always the present here at Ultra Swank and you are always more than welcome to stay for the night and enjoy the company of our lovely flight attendants. Speaking of stewardesses, I had a great time in London last month with my lady friend. It was a trip with many laughs and new experiences. Hope to return there soon again to meet up with some friends. London really is calling.

VUELVEN

entodao-retro.jpg

Me siento superfan. Pateticamente superfan.

THE CHUMINISTROS

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

“With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
If there’s nothing in it
And you’ll ask yourself

Where is my mind”

Forgive Me

Coming Soon

I am putting together a book of my 30 days of stories. Soon they will be available for sale, so just in case you had any desires to get your grubby little hands on them! Yipee! I did a mock-up a few days ago, and I can't help it, but I love seeing them all together. They make me very happy indeed.

I haven't stopped making the flyers at all. I still make them every day. Today I did one on "teachers," where I got to write about one of my hated teachers, Mrs. Scott from the 4th grade. It was the only time I went to public school in elementay school, when I briefly lived far away from where I usually lived and went to school. I hated it and I hated her. She was MEAN and COLD and probably a tad overwhelmed. For my part, I was a FREAKED OUT kid, who was for the first time completely CUT OFF from all my safe guards. I was living alone with my mom, who wasn't home much herself. I started feigning illnesses and cutting school. Anything but to have to face Mrs. Scott with her large icy blue eyes and her perm that made her look like a microphone. I used to have fantasies of the school burning down so I wouldn't have to go. All the things that a little word on a 3"x5" card can evoke! Sheesh!

BOYFRIEND

More Than a Feeling

I could WRITE A FRIGGN' BOOK on telling my life story through boyfriends. Boyfrieds have shaped my life profoundly. I was what you'd call a serial monogomist, peppered in with a few short-lived robounds, for about 15 years. Then by sheer grace I was single for two years and had to LEARN to be alone--EGADS! For someone who had depended on boys to define a good part of my identity, this was like going through REHAB. It totally sucked, then eventually got better, sucked again, and then soon offered benefits I hadn't anticipated. For one, I discovered (shocker of shockers)that I liked being alone. It was good to be my own person, to have quiet mornings to myself, to develop deep friendships.

As you can imagine, it was a time of DEEP SOUL SEARCHING. I sat through Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind SIX TIMES in the theater because I found it deeply profound. Relationships shape us, for better or for worse.

This morning thinking about my first ever boyfriend, I discovered that nearly twenty years later, he still makes me cringe. He was your average white suburban-bread boy, who drove his dad's cars and thought singing the Rollingstone's "Let's Spend The Night Together" in your ear was romantic. I wasn't his first girlfriend. When he asked me out, he had a girlfriend that lived in Canada or Buffalo or Lake Taho--someplace with snow. He told me he "took care of it" in a phonecall over a weekend. I couldn't imagine the equation of that conversation that "took care of it." He took me to my first spring formal. My dress was too big and kept sliding down to reveal my brand new white straples bra. He wore so much aftershave on dates that my eyes would tear up. After we broke up, I found out he told all his friends that I was a prude. Then when I started dating someone else, I found out he told his friends I was LOOSE. Yes, we were all so AWARE in high school weren't we? So much HEALTHY expression of FEELINGS!

He went on to other girls. He played guitar for the senior class assembly, and sang Guns N' Roses' "Patience" with another classmate. It was RIVETING. I hear he's gone on to try his hand at country music. Wherever you are, first boyfriend o' mine, I tip my ten gallon hat to you.

Y me dirá
Y correr,
Y vivir,
Y morir feliz,
Tengo la esperanza hecha pedazos,
Tengo...
Nada...
No tengo nada...
